My mom and dad tell me that my heart is different.\u00a0 It\u2019s different than kids my age.\u00a0 Sometimes I feel different.\u00a0 I can\u2019t run as fast and as far as other kids.\u00a0 My body has to work twice as hard as they do.\u00a0 But I feel like I am the same in other ways.\u00a0 I go to school like them and I have a lot of friends.\u00a0 I hear stories and see pictures about when I was a baby I had more problems that the doctors had to fix.\u00a0 When I was born I was almost going to die because my heart wasn\u2019t working well.\u00a0 They brought me from a bridge to Primary Children\u2019s Hospital from University Hospital.\u00a0 My mom couldn\u2019t see me until night.\u00a0 The doctors helped me get better so I can come home.\u00a0 I had to have a lot of surgeries I don\u2019t remember most of them.\u00a0 I don\u2019t go to the hospital for surgeries a lot anymore, just sometimes.\u00a0 I just got my pacemaker changed and I was scared but they gave me medicine to make me not worry as much.\u00a0 And they did it really fast.\u00a0 And they were really good doctors. \u00a0I didn\u2019t know the doctor that helped me but I felt safe because I know the doctors want to help me.<\/p>\n
The doctor checks my heart and tells my mom about how I\u2019m doing.\u00a0\u00a0 I don\u2019t understand everything that they are talking about but I know that they are working hard to keep me safe and strong.\u00a0 I used to see him a lot but I don\u2019t go a lot anymore because I\u2019m older and stronger and I\u2019m 10 years old.\u00a0 Just two times a year.\u00a0 I like to go visit with him.\u00a0 He asks me how I feel and he teases me about girls.\u00a0 \u00a0I know that he wants to help me feel better and be strong.\u00a0 He makes sure I have good medicine for my heart.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m excited for what\u2019s in the future.\u00a0 We wonder what cool things they will invent for my heart and my pacemaker.\u00a0 Will there be a pacemaker that is super small?\u00a0 Or will you just put it by your chest and it will work?\u00a0 Maybe one day maybe they can charge me at night like a phone battery.\u00a0 There are so many cool things that have happened already since I have been born and I know it will even be better for me when I\u2019m older. \u00a0I know doctors help my heart be better and they want me to be like other kids.\u00a0 I am ready to experience other things that can help my heart in the future.<\/p>\n
