It is estimated that since the year 2000 adults with CHD now outnumber children. These patients have cardiac issues that are not commonly seen or managed by adult cardiologists, and encounter issues such as pregnancy or health problems associated with aging that are not commonly seen or managed by pediatric cardiologists. The specialty of Adult Congenital Cardiology has recently been formally recognized and seeks to consolidate the needed medical expertise to provide expert care for these patients.<\/p>\n
